How long have you been looking for an agent? A manager? A Publisher?
Do you feel an inordinate amount of responsibility for deforestation because of the quantity of query letters, manuscripts and sets of sample chapters you've sent out through the years? If you answered 'yes' to that question and you do not hold any degrees in any of the arts, (no BA, no MFA, etc.) please continue reading.
Uneak Press may well be the publishing company you've been looking for.
Most authors (without degrees) don't realize one simple fact. If you don't have a degree (most likely one in the arts), or someone who's already on the inside with a publisher or agent, the odds are against anything beyond your query letter being read. Nothing.
Here's where Uneak Press, Inc. is different from every other publisher out there; we prefer entries from authors without either a BA or an MFA* (they have their own resources). At Uneak Press we believe that passion, dedication to both creativity, as well as the craft of storytelling, should count for the greater part of success.
However our entry process is different from the standard publishing house in that we don't accept standard submissions either.
Here, we let the people who buy the books decide who should be published.
With a team of judges with several thousands of hours of reading each; the winner of the Uneak Author Award will see the beginnings of their dreams coming true.
Twice a year, the judges of the UAA will choose 1 - 4 authors who show exceptional ability, attention to detail, and dedication to the craft of storytelling, to have their completed work published by Uneak Press, Inc. There are a few rules though. Please see our Contest page for further details.
* Uneak Press, Inc. works on an honor system. Any entrants that have or will obtain degrees of this nature within 2 years of the contest Grand Prize being awarded, and neglect to inform Uneak Press, will be disqualified from any prizes and labeled ineligible for future submissions. Please note, working to obtain a degree within this time frame does not disqualify you from entering. Misrepresentation of self, does.
